Choosing a strap or bracelet usually comes down to two questions: Will it fit my watch? and will it look right on my watch?

While we can help with fit, appearance and style are more subjective and personal.

Fit vs. style

Fit is objective. It is based on measurable factors such as:

  • Lug width
  • Strap or bracelet thickness and lug clearance
  • Attachment method
  • Case and lug geometry

Style is personal. Because there is no single correct pairing, we do not make styling recommendations for specific watch models.

Start with lug width

Lug width is the most important measurement when determining compatibility. We ask that you confirm lug width before ordering or contacting us.

To determine the lug width, you have several options:

  • Manufacturer specifications on the official brand website or product page
  • The watch manual or warranty booklet
  • Measuring directly between the lugs in millimeters with a set of calipers or a metric ruler

Third-party dealer listings and crowdsourced answers are often inaccurate and should be avoided.

For help measuring, see our strap sizing and measurement guide.

Strap thickness and lug clearance

Strap thickness at the lug end can affect fit, particularly on watches with tight lug clearance or when using thicker straps.

We list lug-end thickness on each product page. You can use this information to assess compatibility by comparing to your existing strap.

How to check clearance

  1. Leave your current strap installed.
  2. Check the strap thickness where it meets the case.
  3. Compare it to the lug-end thickness noted in the description of the strap you are considering.

If the new strap is equal to or thinner than your current strap, it will almost always fit.

Most modern watches accept standard straight-end straps without issue. Clearance concerns are the exception, not the rule.

Bracelets and end-link fit

Most bracelets we offer use straight end links and fit a wide range of watches with the correct lug width.

Many curved-end bracelets are designed to fit specific watch cases. Those that we offer are produced by Forstner and are made for particular watch models and case shapes. Compatibility depends on the exact watch reference.

When to contact us

If you are unsure about physical compatibility after confirming lug width, we are happy to help.

We’re not able to look up lug width or specifications for individual watch models on your behalf.

Please include:

  • Watch brand and model
  • Confirmed lug width
  • The strap or bracelet you are considering

We will focus on confirming fit so you can choose with confidence.

Once fit is confirmed, choosing a strap or bracelet is a matter of personal preference. There is no wrong answer if the fit is correct.
