TROPIC® rubber straps first appeared in the early 1960s, becoming a familiar sight on dive watches as interest in the sport grew. Their appeal came from practical, water-ready construction, a distinctive cross-hatched texture and a pattern of small perforations that allowed air to move through the strap and reduce trapped moisture.
After a decades-long hiatus, Swiss-based watch company Synchron revived the design. Today’s TROPIC® straps are made in Italy from 100% vulcanized rubber. They retain their original retro aesthetic, including the classic profile known among vintage dive-watch fans and the familiar perforated surface and structured pattern.
