Bonetto Cinturini Rubber Strap Trimming Guide
Family-owned Bonetto Cinturini, based in Vicenza, Italy, has been making rubber watch straps for more than forty years. Made in Italy from vulcanized nitrile (NBR) rubber, these straps are waterproof and resistant to saltwater and UV exposure. NBR rubber also tends to attract less dust and lint than silicone. Adjusting Your Strap to Fit
Bonetto Cinturini cut-to-size deployant straps can be shortened incrementally for a more precise fit.
Caution: Measure twice, cut once. Remove only a small section at a time to avoid cutting it too short. Cut straps cannot be returned or exchanged.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Open the deployant clasp. Using a spring bar tool, small screwdriver, or similar tool, push through one of the three pinholes on the side of the clasp to disconnect the spring bar. Remove the strap piece from the clasp.
2. Lay the strap piece on a flat surface. From the clasp end, carefully cut a 6–7mm section of rubber using a sharp kitchen or craft knife. Avoid cutting too close to the metal insert in the strap.
3. Tap out the metal insert closest to the newly cut edge using your spring bar tool or screwdriver. Insert the spring bar into this channel and discard the removed metal insert.
4. Reattach the strap piece to the clasp and connect it to your watch.
5. If additional shortening is needed, repeat the process on the other strap piece, checking the fit after each adjustment.
6. Continue adjusting until you reach the desired length.
7. Use the three spring bar pinholes on the clasp for final fine adjustment.
Tips for Care and Longevity
- Rinse your strap with fresh water after exposure to saltwater or sweat.
- Avoid sharp tools near the strap outside of cutting for length adjustments.
- Store in a cool, dry place when not in use to maintain elasticity.
