The TROPIC® rubber watch strap is an iconic dive strap design originally developed for diving conditions. Its perforated layout has become a long-standing favorite for both vintage and modern tool watches.

TROPIC® straps are made from 100% vulcanized rubber and are completely silicone-free. The material is waterproof, hypoallergenic, and nontoxic, making it suitable for regular water exposure and prolonged contact with the skin. Vulcanized rubber has a denser, more resilient character than soft silicone, allowing the strap to hold its shape over time.
The surface features the original cross-hatched “tapestry” texture and perforated layout introduced in the 1960s. Rounded strap ends are a modern update that improves comfort while preserving the structured, retro profile of the original design.

Vulcanized rubber feels firm and structured on the wrist. Compared to soft silicone, it has more resistance and does not collapse or stretch under the weight of the watch. It can feel a bit stiff at first, but once it settles, the strap stays secure and supportive without shifting around.
The consistent thickness helps keep the watch centered during daily wear. Airflow through the perforations reduces moisture buildup, so the strap does not feel slick or sealed against the skin.

Water resistant, suitable for brief exposure but not intended for swimming or prolonged contact with water.
Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap as needed. Rinse thoroughly to remove residue. Avoid solvents, petroleum-based cleaners, or abrasive materials. Dry with a soft cloth and allow the strap to air dry completely before wearing.
TROPIC® rubber watch straps first appeared in the early 1960s and became closely associated with professional dive watches. The original design addressed the demands of underwater use through its distinctive texture and ventilation pattern.
Originally manufactured in Switzerland, TROPIC® straps were adopted by leading dive watch manufacturers and later became a reference point for vintage watch collectors. Revived by Swiss watch company Synchron, modern TROPIC® straps are now produced in Italy using 100% vulcanized rubber, maintaining the character of the original design with improved durability.
