Headquartered in Klagenfurt, Austria, Hirsch was established in 1765 as a leather workshop and tannery. It remains a family-owned business to this day, and continues to gain recognition for excellence and innovation in watch strap design. Hirsch's popular Performance collection of classic leather and animal-free materials combined with premium caoutchouc rubber is a multiple award winner.
The Robby Performance strap features a full-grain Italian calfskin leather upper in a finely perforated sailcloth style, treated with a special scratch-resistant finish to protect against abrasion. The premium, thick caoutchouc natural rubber lining is hypoallergenic and resistant to external influences such as UV light and chemicals, and its superior groove structure ensures constant ventilation on the wrist. Robby is water resistant to 300m, so it can be worn for swimming and even diving.
All of our Hirsch straps are integrated with handy quick-release spring bars. Prefer standard spring bars? Quick-release bars are easy to remove: simply slide the lever as far as you can to the left, then gently bend back the strap corner until the bar emerges from the slot.
This strap is awesome, I love it. I bought my Erebus a year ago and never wore it because I hated the bracelet. I went on a quest to make it wearable and this strap did the trick! Worth the extra money for me.
There's a lot of discussion regarding "sailcloth" straps, none of which are made from "sailcloth." Hirsch is a fabulous strap maker and the Robby is no exception. While the typical complaint about this type of strap is that they are stiff, these are not. They're very bendy, very attractive, obviously well crafted, and unlike a lot of other Hirsch straps, the buckles on these are very nice. But I had to return mine. The fit has to be pretty much perfect. Too tight obviously won't work. If they're too loose, the flex will push the watch up, and then it pops back and forth from side to side. I didn't dare put a hole in the strap due to the construction, and unfortunately I was right between two holes, on both watches I tried to use with this strap. So you will need to get a little bit lucky, but if you do, this is an extraordinarily nice strap, one of Hirsch's very best.
I read positive reviews about the Hirsch Robby sailcloth/rubber straps. Happy to see they were offered through Holben’s as every purchase I made has been perfect. I redeemed some Holben’s “rewards” to mitigate the cost of the Hirsch strap.
The strap is the most comfortable rubber strap I’ve ever worn. Though months are cooler now, the perforation and texture of the rubber lining ensures my wrist and strap are not wet from perspiration. This may change when weather is hot again, but the comfort is great. Too soon to judge how long it will last. These are pricey for me, but I won’t hesitate to buy a replacement.
