AAF, an original Haveston product design, incorporates both ground and air (Army and Air Force) design elements. Authentic vintage aviation features include a tapered woven nylon body, reinforced hole settings, distinctive 6mm engraved rivets and a bead-blasted aviator roller buckle. Updated with handy quick-release spring bars, the two-piece layout accommodates a range of wrist and case (lug to lug) sizes.
AAF Earth-613, a desaturated olive brown exterior with soft, neutral grey lining, is a patinated version of ANA 613, the late-war Army-Navy Aeronautical Board paint color standard used on vehicles and aircraft.
Another 5 star strap from Haveston. Very robust field/pilot strap that breaks in fast and is super comfortable on wrist. Durable sail cloth like fabric with a Nubuck suede like liner. Taper looks super vintage. Earth tone matches a lot of dial colors. Not a huge fan of the wobbly roller buckle but nothing to write home about—could easily be swapped out. I own lots of Haveston NATOs and canvas straps and this may be the best strap they have ever made. No brainer for your pilot of field watch, like my 70s pilot build shown.
The band pairs well with my Casioak and seems of high quality. However, it suffers from an issue I've run into multiple times now with other canvas style watch bands. The quick-release pins interfere with the band itself, not allowing them to fully expand into position. The opening at the end of the band simply cannot be made large enough without compromising strength and therefore when you try and attach it to the watch, it will not snap in and stay attached.
The fix is to destroy the quick-release pins and remove them and replace them with traditional pins. Which means there's no returning the band later should some other issue arise.
If not for this annoying issue the band would have 5 starts instead of 3.
Haveston canvas strap is very supple and comfortable out of the box. Looks amazing as replacement on field/pilot style watches factory equipped with canvas straps.
