Located in Germany's Bavarian Forest, Fluco manufactures 100% in-house at its headquarters in the town of Furth im Wald. Owner Ulrich Fleischmann represents the third generation of his family to lead the company that his grandfather founded more than 70 years ago, producing handmade watch straps of the highest quality for men and women.
Fluco carefully vets every partner they collaborate with. They work only with tanneries that produce ecologically and ethically responsible leather, complying with the strictest regulations to ensure environmental safety and exercising verifiable control from the origin of the raw material to the end product. Fluco's buckles are made entirely in Germany, at a traditional company in Baden Württemberg that tasks itself with producing premium clasps for watch straps.
Fluco's soft, comfortable Deauville strap is handmade in Germany using Togo leather from the Perlinger tannery. Perlinger, a neighbor of Fluco in Furth im Wald, has been owned by the same family for almost 150 years. Handcrafted calf leather of the finest quality has been Perlinger’s trademark over five generations. Centuries ago, the family's ancestors developed a secret process of allowing leather to shrink naturally, creating an unusual leather structure with a pronounced, but fine, grain. Today Perlinger's Togo leather has gained worldwide fame for its use in luxury leather goods such as the Hermès Birkin handbag, but unfortunately, poor (embossed) imitations of Perlinger Togo leather abound. Fluco is one of the few watch strap suppliers who still use authentic, naturally shrunken Perlinger Togo leather.
The Deauville's edges are repeatedly varnished, smoothed and polished by hand. The last three stitches at the end are double sewn, as are the bartack stitches at the buckle. The lining leather from France is water repellent and hypoallergenic. A glass fiber reinforcement is layered inside the strap to prevent tearing and shrinking.

I bought the Fluco Togo leather Deauville strap in dark brown to complement the fauxtina in my Black Bay 54. It doesn’t disappoint. I think it brings out the gold accents well. I added a Fluco flip lock clasp-my first-and really like the way it fits the strap and my wrist. It’s neither thick nor stiff, and that helps it conform well and adds to its level of comfort. I also like the textured look, which adds some uniqueness. I highly recommend this strap!
I was pleased enough with the Deauville I put on my Omega earlier this year that I picked up another to put on my new Timex Marlin Moon Phase, to replace the stock cheap faux-croc strap. It has really transformed the watch. As with the Omega, just enough texture to look good, but subtle enough so as not to draw attention from the case of the watch. Smells nice and comfortable to wear to boot. Thanks, Holben's!
