Perlon straps became common on European sport watches in the 1960s and were known for their thin, tightly woven construction and lightweight feel. The Baltic has a fine double-braided weave that remains light and flexible while allowing air to circulate. Because the buckle pin passes between the fibers rather than through fixed holes, the strap can be adjusted to nearly any position for a precise fit.

Material & feel

Perlon is a synthetic fiber known for its strength, lightweight feel, and resistance to moisture. EULIT has produced Perlon straps in Germany for decades and is widely recognized as one of the leading manufacturers of the material. The Baltic is woven in a fine double-braided pattern that provides flexibility while maintaining durability.

EULIT finishes its Perlon straps with a surface sealing treatment that helps protect against perspiration and everyday soiling. The strap is fitted with a stainless steel ladder buckle available in polished or brushed finishes.

Fit guidance

Perlon’s woven construction allows the buckle pin to engage anywhere along the strap for precise sizing across a wide range of wrist sizes. Because the buckle can be repositioned along the weave, fit is determined more by wrist size than by fixed holes. The single-pass layout maintains a thin profile while helping keep the watch secured if a spring bar fails.

Pleasantly surprised by how comfortable these straps are for the price. I’ve purchased comparable perlon straps from other companies, but the quality of the Eulit straps is noticeable. I’m not a big fan of the buckle on the Baltic version. Hard to tell by the photos, but it’s flatter as opposed to curved. The buckle clasp pin also tends to poke me much harder than other models. I will definitely buy more perlon straps in the future, but maybe a different model.

I ordered two of these straps based on a recommendation on the WUS forum. I was looking for a light weight water friendly strap for my new titanium CWC dive watch. These Perlon straps are feather weight yet strong. The weave does not require pre drilled holes so, you have unlimited flexibility. The strap dries quickly too. I am very happy with these straps as I did not want to weigh down this titanium watch with a heavy strap. The strap is very comfortable as well as it is quite pliable. This was my first purchase from Holben's and it won't be my last.

Eulit is the way to go

Perlon is my go-to leather substitute in summer for the watches with which I would typically wear a strap. The ones from Eulit are more expensive than others, but they are worth it. I tried another less expensive brand and was disappointed by the comfort and so bought some more Eulit from Holben’s. Pictured here on a vintage 33mm Caravelle.

Comfortable strap with unwieldy buckle

EULIT makes the most comfortable perlon straps bar-non. The buckle on the Baltic model is much too wide for slim wristed folks; or wrists with more curvature. Buckle ends tend to lift and catch on things. I swapped the buckle with the Kristall model as someone suggested (new strap shown with shorter buckle).

Nice strap but ugly buckle

After wearing the Eulit Panama royal blue almost daily for more one year, I feel very satisfy and looking for other color. Pick up a Panama grey and Baltic navy blue. I did read the review about the buckle and yes.... very true and really very ugly compare to the previous. It has lost the elegant look and look like a cheap piece of metal. Although it is a 20mm strap, but it is like only 19mm, a tad bit narrower and not full 20mm, can see in the picture. The weaving of the baltic seems not so spread evenly, unlike the panama. Besides, the new straps did not have a EULIT gold wording anymore. (In picture for comparison, from left, Kristal Black-old, Baltic Navy Blue-new, Panama Grey-new, Panama Royal blue-old)

Holbens really lives up its reputation and the items come in a nice package with the extra 20mm lugs, will definitely be back for more. The minus 2 star is for the ugly buckle and the not perfect weaving.

We appreciate the detailed comparison and the kind words about your experience with us. The Baltic uses a different weave and updated hardware, which gives it a different look than the Panama, including the buckle style and spacing of the weave.

Good but no cigar

I'm a big Eulit perlon fan and have been wearing the Kristall from Holben's for a number of years. I wanted to try another color other than black so I thought I'd try the Baltic in green and brown.

The Baltic material is slightly heavier than the Kristall but is the same high quality. The colors look very good and are not too flashy.

The big negative is the buckle. Compared to the Kristall buckle, it seems cheap, bigger and is oddly shaped. It looks like a buckle that you get on a band from a dollar store. I did not care for the buckle at all.

Instead of returning the straps I swapped out the funny looking Baltic buckles with a couple Kristall buckles from older straps that I had.
Now I'm a happy camper and will continue to buy my Eulit straps from Holben's . Too bad I had to deduct 1 star because of the buckle.

I really love these perlon straps from Eulit. They are extremely well made and the hardware is premium. Also like that I can get in brushed or polished finishes. My only negative that I’ve noticed is that the width on the 20mm seems to be a little less. Maybe closer to 19.8 because I have 2 examples of watches where my spring bars are showing just a smidge and it annoys me. However. I’m very particular when it comes to my watches and maybe it wouldn’t bother others.

Very nice strap. Versatile and unassuming grey colour. Well finished brushed buckle. Lightweight and comfortable. Good for wearing during Sydney's hot and humid summer weather. Like having a NATO without having to put up with the unsightly excess fold and keeper on the outside of your wrist. The Baltic has a lightweight weave with their larger and stronger gauge buckle - so good for a field watch. The Panama appears to have the same weave with a smaller polished buckle. I will see which one I prefer over time.

One of the best perlon straps!

Got this for my Baltic Aquascaphe - blue gilt and it matches the tan/yellow accents of the watch. It's also fairly soft and is very easy to find your perfect fit, even as a perlon strap. Definitely recommend this.

Perfect weave

I was happy that the shade of blue was a bit darker than the main product photo--a deeper navy blue is what I was looking for, and this one is a good shade. I also like the density of the Baltic weave--it's not too thick or too thin. Infinitely adjustable, you can't really go wrong with a Eulit Perlon.

Eulit Baltic Tan Perlon Watch Strap

These Eulit Baltic Perlon straps are perfect for the humid weather in the Southeast where I live. Leather straps fare poorly here and, to me, metal "bracelets" just aren't comfortable. The new tan Eulit Baltic strap is both a comfortable fit and a good color for summer wear. My only reservation is the buckle on the Baltic strap. A better buckle - at least for me - would be like the buckle on the Kristall version.

Great strap, fair clasp

I agree with other reviewers here - the strap is wonderful just like Eulit's other high-quality straps, but it is let down a bit by the clasp. I find it larger/bulkier than the past version of this clasp. It doesn't really fit with the slim style of the strap. Plus, the word EULIT is now on the opposite of the buckle tang, instead of on the same side of the buckle tang, so it is not as visible and not as visually appealing.
Have to mention how awesome the folks at Holbens are - they helped me find a version of this strap that was a little smaller than 18mm to fit my 17.5mm lug-width watch. Awesome customer service!!

Lightweight, comfortable

I personally don't mind the buckle, but it is wide. My wrists are small but flat...

On the flip side, for small wrists, the buckle is enough to keep the extra length under control for the most part.

My latest purchase from Holben's was a pair of Eulit Baltic Blue perlon straps in 18mm. I'm really pleased with them, even more than I have been with the Eulit Kristall straps. I have several vintage watches that take 16mm leather straps and the Baltic 18mm fits nicely between those lugs. Eulit braided perlon straps are ideal for the warm, humid weather where I live. No more leather straps, as the Baltic straps will be ideal for year round wear. Holben's customer service is outstanding - I couldn't be more pleased.
