About Holben's Fine Watch Bands
Our Story
For Mike, the owner of Holben's, it all began with a Tony the Tiger watch. To a nine-year-old in 1976 it was the coolest gift ever, and sparked a love of wristwatches that continued to flourish. In subsequent years he acquired a variety of styles, from digital calculator and early Swatch watches to a 1920s Elgin Tank-style model.
While earning a master's degree and working in the field of architectural preservation, Mike continued collecting vintage wristwatches, particularly those with mechanical movements. He honed his restoration skills and studied horological history and technology.
Eventually, what started as a hobby evolved into a thriving business; since its founding in 1998 Holben's has sold more than 20,000 wristwatches to clients worldwide. In 2007 the company expanded to include straps, buckles and other wristwatch-related accessories for men and women.
Holben's is located on an island in the Pacific Northwest, where we enjoy a small-town lifestyle, strong community and occasional orca sightings from the ferry. As a family-owned business we personally tend to your order through every step, including answering questions, packing with care, shipping (often same-day), and managing returns or exchanges if necessary.
With an eye towards quality craftsmanship, Holben's focuses on reputable European, Australian and American makers, including Artem, Bonetto Cinturini, Cape Cod Polish, ColaReb, Di-Modell, Erika's Originals, EULIT, Fluco, Forstner/JB Champion, Hadley-Roma, Haveston, Hirsch, ISOfrane, RIOS1931, Staib and TROPIC.
Mike's collection has evolved over time, reflecting his changing taste and growing expertise, but he still loves the Tony the Tiger watch that started it all. (We know you understand.) Have fun with your own version of this crazy, creative, fascinating pastime, and thanks for stopping by!
