Artem Sizing Guide: Classic Sailcloth Strap
Find Your Perfect Fit
Choosing the correct Artem sailcloth strap comes down to three factors: width, length, and taper. You’ll need at least two measurements (strap width and wrist circumference) to measure watch strap size accurately and ensure a comfortable, secure fit. If you plan to change the buckle or add a deployant clasp, note the strap’s taper as well.
Strap Width
Lug width determines strap size. It’s the distance between the two projections (lugs) that hold the strap in place, measured where the spring bar sits.
Use a metric ruler or caliper to measure in millimeters—always a whole number such as 18mm, 19mm, or 20mm. Select a strap that matches this number: a 20mm lug width requires a 20mm strap.
Strap Length
Next, measure your wrist circumference in inches. Wrap a flexible tape measure or a strip of paper where your watch naturally rests. Mark the point where the ends meet, then measure that length.
If you used paper, lay it flat and measure with a ruler. That number is your wrist size.
Artem’s Classic sailcloth straps are available in three lengths:
Use this chart to match your wrist measurement with the appropriate strap length:
Length Chart
- Short (XS): fits wrists 6–6½ inches
- Regular (Standard): fits wrists 6½–7¼ inches
- Long (XL): fits wrists 7½–8½ inches
If your wrist measurement falls between sizes, select the longer length for a better fit.
Strap/Buckle Taper
The taper is the reduction in width from the lug end to the buckle end. This measurement matters if you plan to swap out buckles or clasps.
Your buckle width corresponds to the strap’s width at the buckle end, not at the lugs.
Example: an Artem 20mm strap tapers to 18mm at the buckle, so choose an 18mm deployant clasp or buckle. A 20mm clasp would be too wide.
