Located in Germany's Bavarian Forest, Fluco manufactures 100% in-house at its headquarters in the town of Furth im Wald. Owner Ulrich Fleischmann represents the third generation of his family to lead the company that his grandfather founded more than 70 years ago, producing handmade watch straps of the highest quality for men and women.
Fluco carefully vets every partner they collaborate with. When sourcing strap material they work only with companies that produce ecologically and ethically responsible goods, complying with the strictest regulations to ensure environmental safety and exercising verifiable control from the origin of the raw material to the end product. Fluco's buckles are made entirely in Germany, at a traditional company in Baden Württemberg that tasks itself with producing premium clasps for watch straps.
The 100% vegan Vino strap is handmade in Germany using an innovative plant-based wine leather from VEGEA, a Global Recycled Standard-certified company headquartered in Milan, Italy. VEGEA produces this eco-sustainable material by recycling the waste (grape skins, stems and seeds) left over from wine production at Italian wineries.
Both in appearance and quality, VEGEA is astonishingly similar to classic leather. The Vino's lining material is also made from wine leather, while a thin layer of organic cotton is set inside the strap. The edges are painted, sanded and polished several times by hand. The Vino is non-tapered (meaning that it is the same width from buckle to lugs). The lack of stitching and flat, slim profile give it a modern, minimal, elegant look.
This is a comfortable strap that looks pretty nice. But I was a bit annoyed that its smallest size was too loose for my 6.5" wrist. I've worn a lot of watch straps, and I've never encountered that. I poked an extra hole in it myself, and it seems to be holding up well so far.
